What experience do I need to start a coffeehouse franchise with Fuel America?

Fuel America franchise owners share our philosophy and passion for serving great coffee and wholesome food in welcoming, high-energy spaces. We seek financially qualified candidates who are inspired by our mission to create environments that fuel connection, ambition, and community.

While prior food service experience is not required, experience in restaurant operations, hospitality, or multi-unit ownership is a plus. Most importantly, franchise owners should be prepared to take an active role in their business and lead their team with care, consistency, and accountability.

Franchise owners and their managers complete approximately 10 days of comprehensive training on the Fuel America franchise system, combining classroom instruction with hands-on, in-store experience.

For your Grand Opening, members of the Fuel America franchise team will be onsite for 2 to 5 days to support operations and help ensure a confident and successful launch. Franchise owners also receive access to the Fuel America Confidential Operations Manual for daily guidance.

Ongoing support is available as needed. Our team remains accessible to assist with operational questions and system updates throughout the life of the franchise.

The estimated initial investment required to begin operations ranges from $233,400 to $890,600, which includes a $40,000 initial franchise fee.

As with any new business venture, it’s important to have sufficient working capital to support startup costs and the early stages of business growth. For full details, prospective franchisees should review the Fuel America Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).

We do not provide direct financing to franchise owners, but we may refer to financing sources on a case-by-case basis.

Yes. Fuel America franchise owners pay a royalty fee equal to 5% of gross revenues. These fees support ongoing franchise services, including operational support, training programs, marketing tools, recipes, and system enhancements. Fuel America franchise owners are required to spend the greater of $400 or 1% of gross revenue per month on local marketing efforts, along with a minimum Grand Opening marketing spend of $2,500 to $3,500.

In addition, franchise owners contribute 2% of gross revenue to the Brand Marketing Fund. These funds are used to support system-wide brand initiatives, marketing strategies, and the development of approved creative materials.

The initial term of the Fuel America Franchise Agreement is ten (10) years, with two (2) successive renewal options of five (5) years each, subject to meeting the conditions outlined in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).
